I will be again on business trip up to Kiruna, SM2 (KP07), in July/August.
On the way up north it is intended to stop by in JP72 and JP84, maybe also JP97.
Activity will be mainly random MS in the evening and morning hours.
Maybe this year some more activity from KP07 itself over the weeks.
During the weekends I will propably be qrv from some gridsquares in SM2/LA/OH...
Maybe also some EME tries... who knows.
Stay tuned.

SX5C Special Call DxPedition STROGILI ISLET & Lighthouse IPSILI
The following Greek hams: SV1GE John, SV1JG Cliff, SV1RC Spiros, SV1RP George,SV1EEX Nikiforos, SV1GRM Theodoros, SV1GYG John, SV1HER Sotirios & SV1JCZ Daniel will activate the rocky islet STROGILI (IOTA: EU-001, GIOTA: DKS 001, MIA: MGD-022)with lighthouse ham activation of the islet.
Lighthouse named IPSILI: WLOTA: L-0237, ARLHS: GRE-123. The lighthouse was manufactured in 1917. The altitude of tower is 9 metres and the height of focal plane is 85 metres.
All the above hams are also members of the Radio Amateur Association of Greece (http://www.raag.org).
It will be the first time that this islet is going to be activated for ham purposes and so does the lighthouse "IPSILI".
"We are very glad to announcement the participation to SX5C, one (1) operator of VP6DX, DUCIE Island Dxpedition & five (5) operators from the YK9SV,ARWAD Island Dxpedition".
The Stroggyli Kastellorizou also called Strongili or Strogili or Ipsili, is a Greek islet which lies in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, about five (5) nautical miles south-east of the island of Kastelorizo. The islet is about 1.5 km long, and up to 700 m wide. It covers an area of about 0.9 km˛. It is rather flat and covered with macchia. Strongili is the easternmost Greek Territory. It is not inhabited, and has a lighthouse named Ispili, which has the characteristic of being the easternmost building in Greece.
Coordinates: Latitude: 36°06'49"N, or 36.1136 N ..-.. Longitude: 29°38'09"E, or 29.6358 E
Grid square: KM46tc [Location is 7.8 mi (12.6 km) from SOUTH edge of grid square, 20.3 mi (32.7 km) from EAST edge of grid square]
Timeline 25 July - 04 August 2008.
We will be active (we hope) in all bands from 160m-2m in all modes.

LA/PA5DD
PA5DD & family going for a week of cottage vacation in Norway. Cottage is rented, and the ferry is booked.
The usual disclaimer applies:
Please note that this DXpedition takes place in Norway. Norway is a mountainous region, and at least a few degrees of takeoff elevation cannot be avoided and QSOs above 2000km are hence very unlikely. Unfortunately it will also not be possible to serve all azimuth directions. Compromises have to be made when searching a QTH, and a good takeoff towards high activity areas will be a priority.

F/LA0BY/p Perseids 2008 activity from JN02SV
This year I plan to activate this relatively rare square in the French Pyrenees on 144 MHz during the maximum of the Perseid shower. I will participate in the QRP class of the MMMonVHF/DUBUS MS-Sprint Contest and will therefore be QRV for random SSB on 12.08.2008 from 00:00 to 23:59 UTC. My location will be at 1400 m asl with superb take-off from Northwest (EI) over North to Southeast (LZ/SV). My equipment will be a single 9-ele-F9FT yagi and 150W RF power into the antenna. Operation will be in SSB only, with 1 min periods (breaks every 10-15 s). Please make sure that final RRR are exchanged so the contact is complete. I will use the frequency 144,195 MHz (perhaps +/- 2 kHz depending on QRM). On site I will not have access to the Internet or DX-Clusters, but can receive/send SMS through my French cellphone +33-6-86913388.
Note: From the same location I plan to participate also in the VHF Contest on 5./6. July 2008. Probably being QRV from early evening on Saturday to late morning on Sunday.

SX1FRE Fryktories DXpedition on Kitheronas mnt
A Greek ancient system of communication with fire from torches above mountaintops is called fryktories from fryktos that means “the torch” in Greek .
On 13 of July 2008 and after 3200 years we will be climbing up the same mountaintops with Turkish Hams and will transmit through the hamradio frequencies a message from Troy – located in N.W Turkey up to Mykines that is in Southern Greece using a special call on every mountaintop that the original message passed through. The same mountaintops are mentioned from Aeshylus in his drama “Agamemnon” and they are the ones that brought back to the Mikines city the message that Troy has fallen into the hands of the ancient siege army.
The transmitted message will be passing along the nodes on the 2m band from one station to another.
The special calls that will be used through this campaign will be:
Turkey
Mountain Ida(Troy): to be announced.
Greece
Station 1 (Lemnos Isl): SX8FRA
Station 2 (Athos mnt) * : SX2FRB/A
Station 3 (Kandili Evia): SX8FRC
Station 4 (Mesapio, Biotia): SX1FRD
Station 5 (Kitheronas): SX1FRE
Station 6 (Gerania): SX1FRF
Station 7 (Arachneon, Peloponisos): SX3FRG
Station 8 (Mikines): SX3FRH
Every Station will have at least 2m SSB/FM capability with yagi antennas. Before and after the event every station will be trying to make as many QSO’s as possible with the special calls. Also that day we expect that many other hilltops will be activated in 2m band from other Greek and Foreign hams that will be joining this event.
I will be QRV from Kitheronas mnt with the call SX1FRE.
Along with me will be SV1EOS, SV1JGX and SW1JGW.
GRID LOC: KM18OE.
Will be active in 80-2m + 70 cm. Modes will be SSB/FM/SSTV/RTTY/PSK and will try MS + JT6M . Also will try FM LEO SATS.
